Dolby Cinema Processors

Dolby CP750 Digital Cinema ProcessorCP750

The CP750 Digital Cinema Processor is a key part of Dolby’s comprehensive digital cinema solution. It provides easy-to-operate audio control for any kind of digital cinema server, three digital preshow and alternative content sources, an existing film sound processor, a microphone input, and an analog nonsync source. Hearing-impaired and auxiliary analog outputs complement the CP750’s main eight-channel audio output.

While the CP750 is ideal for new digital-only theatres, it is also the best long-term choice for digital cinema conversions. Unlike limited-function digital adapters, the CP750 functions on its own when you no longer need to show film, saving the cost of maintaining or replacing your legacy processor.

The CP750 integrates with Dolby Theatre Management System (TMS) software, so that it can respond to digital input selection and volume cues within a show, real-time volume control from any Dolby TMS client, and ASCII commands from third-party controllers.

Moreover, Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital Surround EX, Dolby Pro Logic, and Dolby Pro Logic II decoding are all included to deliver the best in surround sound before and during the show from all content.

The Dolby CP750 combines robust construction, state-of-the art hardware and software, practical functionality, and legendary Dolby quality. Whether you need to equip a single screen, a multiplex, or a large network, the Dolby CP750 is your most logical choice.

Dolby CP650 Cinema ProcessorCP650

The Dolby CP650 is the best investment you can make in a cinema processor.

The Dolby CP650 is the only all-digital cinema processor capable of playing back both digital and analog Dolby soundtrack formats. Its high quality, proven reliability, unrivaled versatility, and ease of setup have earned it a place in thousands of flagship cinemas worldwide. It can also accommodate new technologies such as digital cinema, ensuring a long and useful product life.

Four Configurations

For tighter budgets, the CP650SR comes equipped to process Dolby SR and A-type analog soundtracks only, while the most popular configuration, designated CP650D, adds Dolby Digital decoding; neither of these models includes Dolby Digital Surround EX decoding or digital audio inputs. However, as your needs change and new formats are introduced, you can upgrade any CP650 configuration with plug-in circuit cards and new software.

The configuration, simply designated CP650, processes Dolby SR and A-type analog, Dolby Digital, and Dolby Digital Surround EX soundtracks. It also provides four AES3 inputs for digital cinema audio. To these features, the top-of-the-line CP650XO adds built-in crossovers for screen speakers, eliminating the need for a stand-alone crossover unit.

Unique Features

Built-in installation tools (including a real-time analyzer and the unique EQ Assist system) significantly reduce alignment time. In day-to-day operation, the exceptional Auditorium Assist feature can alert you to discrepancies from the sound system’s initial calibration, signaling a fault such as a speaker driver failure.

The CP650 is most efficiently installed and calibrated with the help of a laptop PC running comprehensive setup software (available in several languages). Calibration can also be accomplished using the CP650's front-panel controls and main display. Software upgrades are conveniently accomplished from a PC.

A built-in serial and Ethernet interface accommodate PC control and cinema network connectivity. A built-in bypass power supply helps ensure that the show can continue should a fault occur in the main CP650 power supply.

Choosing Your CP650

The Dolby CP650 is available in a variety of configurations to suit every projection requirement.

In addition, upgrade kits are available that allow new configurations as needed:

  • UD/650—Upgrades the CP650SR to CP650D (includes Cat. No. 773)
  • UEX/650—Upgrades the CP650D to CP650 (includes Cat. No. 790)
  • UXO/650—Upgrades the CP650 to CP650XO (includes Cat. No. 791)

DMA8Plus Digital Media AdapterDMA8Plus

Equip your sound system for digital cinema with the Dolby DMA8Plus Digital Media Adapter.

The Dolby DMA8Plus Digital Media Adapter is a practical, flexible solution for equipping your sound system for digital cinema, onscreen advertising, special events, and other program sources using digital audio. The adapter provides a comprehensive audio interface while its automation intelligence maintains a seamless fit with your cinema processor. The product design is elegant yet rugged and compact, occupying only one rack-unit space.

The DMA8Plus has four separate digital inputs and will accept up to eight channels of PCM digital audio as well as Dolby Digital and Dolby E bitstreams. Two-channel audio sources can be decoded as discrete L/R, Dolby Pro Logic, or Dolby Pro Logic II. Analog audio outputs are calibrated to cinema processor reference levels to ensure a straightforward interface with your cinema’s existing sound processor.

The DMA8Plus is easily set up via a laptop computer, and can be controlled by your cinema’s automation system via standard GPIO automation, serial, or Ethernet commands. Individual digital sources can be selected rapidly using dedicated front-panel buttons. The unit also provides a switched “through” connection for external film audio decoders or six-channel analog sources such as the Dolby DA20. (In this way, both the DMA8Plus and the DA20 may share the cinema processor’s six-channel input format.)

A separate adjustable global audio delay is assigned to each digital input to ensure that sound and picture are perfectly synchronized during digital cinema presentations. Different delays can be assigned to different inputs, giving flexibility with alternative content sources that often require different delays.

The front panel is designed to provide a wealth of feedback and usability for the user. Simple manual control is provided by the four digital input buttons and one film pass-through button. The valid indicators verify digital signal presence on each associated input. Other indicators reveal the bitstream format, the Decode mode, and eight-channel analog output signal presence. A USB port provides a reliable PC connection for the setup software application.
